The Data & AI Security Evolution

Public and third sector organisations are under pressure to do more with less, while also exploring how AI can support better services and improve efficiency.

The challenge is keeping control of data while adopting AI. Most organisations we speak to aren’t struggling to start with AI. They’re struggling with what sits underneath it. It is the way AI can amplify existing governance gaps: over-permissioned Microsoft 365 environments, weak classification, unclear ownership, legacy content and limited visibility over how information is accessed and used. AI just makes all of that more visible, and harder to ignore.

Full Agenda

At the same time, the pressure isn’t slowing down:

  • Higher education attacks are up 63%
  • Housing sector is seeing a 70% rise in ransomware
  • Public Sector data breaches are increasing by 66%
  • *Quorum Cyber Central and Regional Government Report

Led by Richard Holland (Field CISO with over 25 years experience across your sectors), this session will bring together public and third sector peers, with our expert team, for practical discussions on how to reduce data risk, strengthen governance and prepare for safer AI adoption.

What this session is

This is a small, closed discussion. Just a group of people dealing with the same issues, comparing what’s working and what isn’t. The session will be hosted by Richard Holland (Field CISO), with input from Leon Butler (Data Security Solutions Director), both working day-to-day with organisations across housing, education and the wider public sector.

What you’ll get from it

  • A clearer sense of where your own data gaps might be

  • Some practical ways others are tightening things up

  • A chance to sanity check your approach with peers

  • A few ideas you can take back and actually use

On the day, we’ll discuss

  • The 2026 data risk landscape across public sector, housing and higher education.

  • AI, accountability and governance.

  •  Practical discussion on data readiness, ownership and control.
